Funeral services of Father Joseph Sussong was held at the German Evangelical Church on Sabbath morning, January 10. The services were conducted in both German and English by Revs. Bock of the German Evangelical and Skinner of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Deceased was born in Loraine, France, August 1, 1801. In 1829 he emigrated to this country and located at Harrisburg, Pa., latterly to Orangeville, N.Y., and in 1846 removed to Richfield, Wisconsin, where he lived until 1866, when he removed to La Porte, where he has resided until his death. Deceased was married in 1836 to Magdalena Fry at Orangeville, N.Y. This union was blessed with nine children, five boys and four girls, of whom eight are yet living. His wife died in 1865. He was converted to the Evangelical church in 1831, and has since been a member.

Father Sussong was an ernest Christian and was for many years a classleader in his church.

Although it is written the alloted age of man is three score years and ten, Father Sussong was allowed to pass the limit and died January 7, 1892, attaining the great age of 90, five months and six days.

Children of deceased are located; a son in this city, a son and a daughter at Des Moines, a daughter at Omaha, Nebraska, a son at Madison, Wisconsin, one at Covington, Ky., a daughter in Florida and one in Souix Falls, S.D.

Father Sussong was an old settler and hightly essteemed by all his neighbors. The bereaved children have the heartfelt sympathy of the community.
