Ruth M. Sires, 83, of Cedar Falls, Iowa, died Monday, January 21, 1991, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, of natural causes.
She was born October 27, 1907, in Postville, Iowa, daughter of William and Celia May (Russell) LaVelle. She married Floyd L. Sires on December 19, 1925, in Clermont, Iowa. They later were divorced.
Survivors include a son, Paul of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Norma Knudsvig and June Wenzel, both of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren; and 29 greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Vern; three brothers, Harry, Ralph and Ashley LaVelle; and four sisters, Ethel, Phyllis, Esther and Thelma.
Private family services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Dahl-VanHove-Schoof Funeral Home, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
