DEATHS
John A. Engleman
John A. Engleman, 61, of 727 Baltimore street, died of a heart ailment at 4:50 a.m. Tuesday at his home, after an illness of three months.
Born Oct. 18, 1883, in Peru, ILL., the son of John N. and Katherine Meyer Engleman, he came to Waterloo in 1905. He married Katherine Meany, Nov. 24, 1908, here. Here he was employed as a carpenter for various contractors, until 1942, since when he has been employed by the Meany Casket Co.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church and AFL Carpenters' union, local 1835.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving, besides his wife, are two daughters, Miss Mary Katharine Engleman and Miss Lucille Engleman, both at home; five sisters, all of Cedar Falls, Mrs. Rose Corwin, 421 Iowa street; Mrs. Joel Corwin, Route 3; Mrs. W. Lusthoff, 1221 West Third street; Mrs. Minnie Corwin, 1339 College street and Mrs. L.D.Brown, Route 2, Cedar Falls, and one brother, Lawrence Engleman, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9a.m. Thursday in Sacred Heart Catholic church, with Rt. Rev. Msgr. E.J. Dougherty, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Members of the Holy Name society and Rosary society of Sacred Heart church and of the Catholic Daughters of America will meet at 8p.m. Wednesday at the residence to recite the rosary.
The body will be taken from the funeral home to the residence at 5p.m. Tuesday.
