Webb Renn Dies Year to a Day
After Reported Death

One year ago December 22, a rumor spread about La Porte City that Webb Renn, local WPA employee, had dropped dead in a stone quarry near here. The story was unfounded, and as Renn rode to work last Friday morning he jokingly called the attention of his fellow-workers to the fact that the day was the anniversary of his "death."

A short time later Renn was dead in the quarry, victim of a heart attack. He died instantly, it was said, from a coronary occlusion.

Funeral services were held Sunday in the Ashley and Waldroff funeral home here, with burial in West View cemetery.

Sixty-two years of age, Mr. Renn had spent most of his life in this vicinity. His first wife was the former Grace Longaker Betts, who died in 1918. In 1925 he married Margaret Suefferlein of La Porte City.

Surviving are the widow; three sons, Harold of Hillsboro, N.D., and Jack, 12, and Ambert, 11, at home, and a brother, Clinton Renn of Waterloo.
