"Fairfield Ledger", Thurs., Jan. 6, 1859, Pg. 3, Col. 1

FATAL ACCIDENT: Elijah GOVER met with his death, on the 22d ult., in a singular manner. He had been hauling logs, on a sled, and having come to a hill, he was afraid that the sled would run against the oxen and hurt them, and to prevent this, he unhitched the oxen, and in attempting to get the sled started he slipped and fell, when the sled run over him, crushing his breast. He lived about fifteen or twenty minutes after. Mr. GOVER was a Scotchman (sic), and resided about 2½ miles southwest of town.

GOINGS-ON IN IOWA. Jefferson Co. Mr. E. GOVER was recently killed, while hauling some saw logs. He leaves a wife and several children. The deceased was a native of Scotland.
