Leslie J. Miller of LaPorte City Dies

LaPorte City, Iowa - Leslie Jake Miller, 77, died at 7:20 A.M. Wednesday at his home in the east part of LaPorte City of a stroke.

He was a blacksmith earlier in life and in later years a carpenter.

He was born near Gilbertville, August 1, 1858, the son of Edward and Elizabeth Miller, and spent all of his life in Michigan and the LaPorte City area.

Mr. Miller married Nellie Adkins and she died 1910 at Rock Falls, Iowa on May 22, 1938, Mr. Miller married Rilla Igou at Battle Creek, Mich., and her death occurred in 1941. He married Mrs. Florence Harmon of LaPorte City, Aug 12, 1943 at Lancaster, MO.

Surviving him are his widow, two sons by his first marriage Edwin and Harvey, Battle Creek, MI, one step daughter Mrs. John Botterna, LaPorte City; two step sons George Harmon at home, Robert Harmon, Moline, Ill; four grand daughters, three step-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. Charles Leipert, Jessup; Mrs. Ollie Mills, Chicago; Mrs. Dan Stafford, Kansas City, MO; one brother, Duane Miller, Jessup.

One daughter preceded him in death.

The body was taken to the Ashley and Waldroff funeral home.
