Avis J. Fraker, 87, passed away Friday, Jan. 28, 2022, at the Keystone Care Center.
At Avis's direction, there will be no memorial service.
Avis Jean Rinehart was born April 23, 1934, in Hartford Twp., Iowa Co., Iowa, to Clarence William and Merle Frances (Shedenhelm) Rinehart. Her siblings were Inez Ruth Rinehart, Ireta (John) Daniels, Mervaille W. Rinehart, Marcella (Fess) Parker and Mavis (Maynard) Heishman. She attended Ladora High School, playing for the Ladora Panthers until graduating in 1952.
On Dec. 30, 1951, Avis married Gerald "Joe" Fraker at the Marengo Presbyterian Church. Their children were Joseph Campbell, Jock Cameron, Gregory Jon and Travis Edmund Fraker.
The family farmed near Brooklyn for a time before moving to Ladora in 1961. Avis spent the next thirty years working as a secretary for Leff Law Firm, Harned and McMeen Attorneys, Stover Abstract, PCA and Marengo Ready Mix.
Avis is survived by two sons, J.C. and Travis Fraker; daughters-in-law, Cec and Charlene Fraker; grandchildren, Daley Fraker, Amara, Zackary (Autumn) and Echo (Ben) Fraker, Honesty and Jamari Fraker; great-grandchildren, Kyra Fraker, Ariaus and Mavery Fraker and Carmella Davidson; sister-in-law, Eilleen Rinehart; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceeding her in death were her parents; siblings; her husband, "Joe"; sons, Jock and Greg; and daughter-in-law, Lynn Fraker.
Travis and J.C. wish to thank UnityPoint Hospice and Keystone Nursing Care Center for the compassion shown their mother over the last few months of her life.
