Grant Edmonds, an employe of S. Robinson's wagon factory, was run down by the southbound train on the Rock Island at Vinton at 11:50 last Saturday night and instantly killed. The accident occurred near the west school building. It is thought Edmonds was walking home on the tracks and meeting the train stepped just outside the rails into loose gravel which caused him to lose his footing and fall under the cars. His head was completely severed from his body, which was otherwise badly mutilated. Edmonds was about 35 years old and was unmarried.
