The Marion Weekly Sentinel Thursday August 13, 1925
Mrs. Johanna Koch, aged 79 years, a pioneer of Benton county, who had lived in Marion for the past eight years, died at her home at 816 Ninth avenue, following a lingering illness.
Mrs. Koch was born in Hanover, Germany in 1845. Going first
to Uraguay, South America, where she stayed until 1871, when she came to Luzerne, Iowa. She married Adolph Koch in the same year and they lived near Keystone on a farm for a period of forty-six years, until they moved here.
In 1921, Mr. Koch died. She leaves five children, Mrs. Minnie Schenken, Mrs. A.B. Black and William Koch of this city, Mrs. Neil Lutes of Dubuque, Arnold Koch of Keystone, and fourteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held here at the home and the body then taken to Keystone on Friday.
