FRANCISCAN NUN GIVEN TO GRAVE MONDAY MORNING

The funeral of Sister Mary Philomena Wilwerding, who died at Norway, Iowa, was held Monday from the motherhouse, Mount St. Francis, Monday morning. Sister Philomena died Friday after a three days illness of pneumonia.

The funeral mass was celebrated by her brother, Rev. Peter Wilwerding of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, assisted by the Rev. Joseph Steicher, Earling, Iowa, a relative; Rev. W. A. Nuebel, of St. Francis Home of the aged, as sub-deacon and Rev. D. Lundin, chaplain of St. Mary's orphan home, master of ceremonies. The Right Rev. Monsignor G. W. Heer, Rev. Bauman and Rev. W. J. Weirich were present in the sanctuary.

Sister Philomena was completing her fortieth year in the religious life. She is survived by five brothers, the Rev. Peter Wilwerding of Oklahoma City, Rev. Anthony Wilwerding, S.J. of John Carroll University, Cleveland, Ohio, W. S. Wilwerding and J. J. Wilwerding of Earling, Iowa, J. M. Wilwerding of Seattle, Wash., and A. F. Wilwerding of Omaha and one sister, Mrs. E. Thelle of Earling, Iowa. A sister, Sister Mary Dorothea, also of the order of St. Francis, died a number of years ago. Two nieces, Sister Mary Mauricia and Sister Mary Maurine are members of the same order.
