Wilma C. Gerhold, 90, of Waverly, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in the Denver (Iowa) Sunset Home following a brief illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Turner Chapel West, where friends may call from 5:30 to 8:30 tonight. Burial: St. Stephen's Lutheran Cemetery, Atkins. The Rev. Keith Tomlinson of Bartels Lutheran Home, Waverly, will officiate.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathleen Franck and husband Gordon of Waverly; a sister, Esther Soenksen of De Witt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 1978; two sisters, Selma Kruckenberg and Paula Behrens, and two brothers, Martin Licht and Hugo Licht.
Wilma was born Jan. 23,1910, in Lowden, the beloved daughter of Henry and Anna Hein Licht. She was baptized Feb. 6, 1910, and confirmed May 31, 1925, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lowden, where she attended Trinity Lutheran School.
Wilma married George M. Gerhold on Feb. 16, 1938. Wilma and George farmed near Newhall until 1974, when they retired to Cedar Rapids and became members of Trinity Lutheran Church. She moved to Waverly in 1995 and to the Denver Sunset Home this past August.
