Wava Belle Richardson Koster, 84, went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 16, 2000, in the Keystone Care Center after a lingering illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Grace Lutheran Church, Blairstown, by Pastor David Rempfer. Burial: Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Overton Family Funeral Home, Blairstown.

She is survived by her husband, Orville; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sharon Koster; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy & Mylo Schultz; five grandchildren; Tammy (Sam) Aossey, Todd (Lisa ) Schultz, Lori (Larry ) Prokup, Tina (Steve) Erenberger and Kelli Jo Koster; 10 great-grandchildren, Christine, Tiffany and Sam Aossey, Joshua, Jessica and Jennifer Schultz, Lyndsay and Lucas Prokup and Stephanie and Andrew Erenberger; and a great-great-granddaughter , Jordan Schwab.

Wava was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elnora Kasal; and three brothers , George, Maurice and Ralph Richardson.

Wava was born June 1, 1916, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Riley and Mary Henry Richardson. She graduated from the Belle Plaine High School and then attended beauty school in Des Moines, graduating in 1934. She worked in the Cedar Rapids and Belle Plaine area before her marriage to Orville Koster on June 14, 1936.

Orville and Wava made their home on a farm southwest of Blairstown, where she lived most of her married life. She became a resident of the Keystone Care Center in 1998.

Wava loved life. She loved her husband of 64 years and together they enjoyed spending time with their family and many grandchildren. Wava also enjoyed cooking, fishing, playing cards, feeding the birds, keeping a large garden and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. She was also active in Grace Lutheran Church and was a longtime member of the Jolly Neighbors.

Wava will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial fund has been established.
