Second Attempt to Kill

For the second time within a year an attempt was made on the life of George Ramstead, bookkeeper at the People’s Savings Bank at Vinton. A large stick was hurled through the window of his sleeping apartment and as Mr. Ramstead leaped from his bed a bullet sped past him and buried itself in the wall. The would be assailant fired only one shot, making good his escape. It is recalled that Mr. Ramstead was shot in the arm last spring by an unknown man who was never apprehended. What inspired the attempts on his life is a mystery.
