LOCAL NEWS

The mother of Charles Bartlett of
southwest Hamlin township, died
at the home of her son on Saturday,
June 13th, aged 92 years. The
funeral was held from the house on
Sunday and was conducted by the
Rev. J. E. Nichol, pastor of the M.
E. church in this city. The remains
were interred in Exira cemetery in
the Bartlett burial lot. For want of
any data we are unable to write up
a more extended notice.

Obituary.

Mrs. Levi Bartlett, whose maiden
name was Tryphena Packer, was
born in Enfield, Mass., June 11,1812,
and died at Exira, Iowa, June 13,
1903. In 1830, she was united in
marriage to Levi Bartlett at Enfield,
Mass, where they resided until 1870
when they moved to near
this city, where they lived endur-
ing all the hardships of pioneer
life until in 1886, when they mov-
ed to Nebraska. Nine children were
born of this union, four of whom
still survive her, Mrs. G. I. Miller,
of Boone, Iowa; Mrs. Weber, North
Orange, Mass.; Frank and Charles
Bartlett of near this city. Mrs.
Miller was here and nursed her
mother through her last illness.
The funeral as stated before in this
paper was held from the home of
her son Charles. Bartlett, conducted
Rev. J. E. Nichol of the Methodist
church in this city, followed
by interment in the family lot in
the Exira cemetery.
