in Wyoming, Miss Am-
ber Kelsey Succumbs

Mary Amber Kelsey, second
daughter of James and Eliza Kelsey,
was born in Scott county, near
Davenport, Iowa, August 7, 1868.

Ten years later, the family came
to western Iowa and located at
Adair, later coming to Exira which
has been home for the past thirty-five
years.

At a tabernacle meeting conducted
by Rev. Detwiler in Exira
thirty-four years ago, she made
profession of faith in Jesus Christ
and was accepted as a member of
the Methodist church to which she
has been very devoted since. If
the spirit of helpfulness is an indication
of Christian character, there
will be many who kindly remember
her as one who followed Him
who went about doing good; and
after all it is the love that is expressed
in deeds rather than words
that really counts.

Seventeen years ago, her mother
passed to her rest. Since that
time, Amber has made a home for
her brothers at no small sacrifice to
herself, and her loss will be more
keenly felt by them than all others.

The father, mother, two sisters
and a brother have preceded her to
the great Unknown. The immediate
relatives surviving are Mrs.
Belle Parrott, Tacoma, Washington;
James H: and Claude R. of
Lovell, Wyoming; Mrs. Katherine
Bishop, of Billings, Montana; and
Charles T. of Tacoma, Washington.

Miss Amber had not been feeling
well for sometime and had gone to
Lovell, Wyoming, with her brother
to spend the summer. Two weeks
and a day with them and she passed
on to be with those who have preceded
her to the heavenly home,
and if the smile that carressed her
face in death means anything, the
place her spirit dwells today is better
than any terrestrial clime, and
the friends she has met in that
eternal reunion are as dear as those
who survive her.

She died Monday, April 4th,
1921, aged 52 years, 8 months and
27 days. Funeral services were
conducted by Rev. Henry from the
Community church. Interment
was made in the Exira cemetery.

Note: Parents of Mary Amber Kelsey were James Kelsey and Ann Eliza Lewis.
