OBITUARY OF HARRIET
JANE ROLSTON

--------

Harriet Jane Rolston was born
in Ohio, Jan. 22, 1850, where she
grew to womanhood in a family of
seven children and fell asleep in
Jesus Jan. 31, 1919 at the ripe old
age of 69 years and 9 days.

On Jan. 3, 1869 she was united
in marriage with W. H. Covault.
To this happy union the hand of
providence saw fit to give eight
children, three girls and five boys.
She was preceded in death by many
loved ones, including her father,
mother, brothers, save one, sisters
and one son, Isaac, who died Nov.
10, 1901. Her survivors are a broken
hearted and aged life companion,
seven children, Elmer, Harry,
Charley, William, Mrs. Della Flynn,
Mrs. Effie Adair and Mrs. Bertha
Adair; twenty-five grandchildren
and five great grandchildren, also
one brother, John Rolston of Bowling
Green Missouri, with a host of
friends, the latter indeed being very
numerous as to know Grandma
was to be a friend to her. In Sept.
1879 the family came to Iowa and
have since made their home in Au-
dubon county, where she has pro-
ven herself a true "Mother in Isreal"
to one and all.

During a revival meeting held in
the Christian Church near her home
in Ohio at the age of 18 years she
was convicted of sin and converted
to Christ and immediated she united
with this church by following
her Master in baptism and remain-
ed a member of this church until
June 11,1899 when she united with
the Union Baptist Church and to
the day of her death she was faithful
to her God. Truly we can say
with the man of God "her children
rise up and call her blessed." During
all these days, weeks and
months of her intense suffering and
pain she has been very patient and
kind, bearing all with a realization
that she was in the hands of Him
who quieteth and taketh away suffering.
She has known for sometime
that her stay on earth was
limited and but one thing has concerned
her since, and that was the
time of her departure." Many are
the words of comfort, cheer and encouragement
she has spoken to
those on life's pathway. It was always
her custom to minister unto
all who were needy and needed befriending.
She will be sadly missed
in the church, home and hearts of
those who she loved, and while it
is a deep wound that death causes
on entering a home, we realize that
there are many things to be thankful
for and while she has gone her
life and influence will still live on
after her. Her's was a life well
spent.

To those who mourn we would
say "Let Grand-Ma's God be your
God." Trust Him who said, Come
unto Me all ye that labor and are
heavy laden and I will give you
rest." Weep not as those that have
no hope, "For this we say unto you
by the Word of the Lord, those who
are alive and remain unto the com-
ing of the Lord shall not prevent
those who are asleep. For the Lord
himself shall descend from Heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the
Archangle and with the trumpet of
God and the dead in Christ shall
rise first. Then we which are alive
and remain shall be caught up together
with them in the clouds to
meet the Lord and the Heir. Therefore
comfort one another with these
words.

Funeral services were conducted
by a former pastor, Charles F.
Thomas of Ollie, Iowa, from the
Union Baptist Church, February
2nd with interment in the Bowman
cemetery.

ters unto humanity.
