GEORGE MACK SMITH
ANSWERED SUMMONS

--------

George Mack, son of Michael and
Neva Smith, was born in Audubon
Co. Iowa, Aug. 27, 1900. He took
sick with Influenza, Friday January
10th and all that loving hands and
medical skill could do was done but
the Master called and January 27th
at the age of eighteen years and 5
months he answered his call.
Mack was a kind and good boy,
loved by all. When his oldest brother,
Frank, was called to the colors
he did all that he could to make
home a comfort and pleasure for
his widowed mother, brothers and
sisters. He did not often attend
church, due to disadvantages, but
greatly enjoyed hearing religious
songs, poems and lectures. He also
enjoyed talking on religious subjects
and believed in a hereafter.
During his illness he told his brother
that Jesus had called him and
sang religious songs, which is a
great comfort to his relatives in
their hour of sorrow.

He leaves to mourn his loss a
mother, four sisters, Florence, Alice,
Imo and Marie, four brothers,
Frank, Willie, Andrew and Elmer
and one brother-in-law serving overseas,
and aged grandfather and a
host of other relatives and friends.
His father was suddenly called to
the great beyond, July 16, 1916,
his death being caused by a bee-
sting.

Funeral services were held at the
home January 29th, conducted by
Rev. Matson and the remains were
laid to rest in the Oakfield cemetery
