The Columbian and Democrat (Bloomsburg, Columbia co., PA), January 24, 1890, page 3

Mary Magdalene Zaner, daughter of
Daniel and Hannah Zaner, was born in
Columbia county, Pennsylvania, on the
27th day of June, 1825, and was married to
D. W. Miller on tho 19th day of January,
1850. They lived In Pennsylvania until
the spring of 1853 when they emigrated to
St. Joseph, Co, Mich., where they remained
for fifteen years and then came to Audubon
county in the year 1869 where she lived
until her death which occurred Sunday,
January 12, 1890. Unto her were born
nine children, five daughters and four sons.
Two daughters are dead - one an infant
in Pennsylvania and the other died while
the family lived in Michigan, and three
daughters and four sons still survive her.
Her affliction was inflammatory rheumatism
with which she was taken over eight years
ago and from which she has suffered much
pain, and for the past three years, she had
no use of her limbs and her flesh was so
badly paralyzed that she had to be cared
for as if she were a child. She was converted
to the Methodist doctrine over
twenty-eight years ago which faith she
kept until the last. Her last illness was
influenza and her prayers, for a few days
before her death, were for her Lord to take
her home where she had friends waiting
for her. She was conscious until the last
moment when; her Saviour answered her
prayers and she fell into her last dreamless
sleep. The funeral was held at the
Methodist church, in Exira, Iowa, Rev. A.
B. Shipman preaching a touching sermon,
after which a long train of sorrowing rela-
tives and friends followed the remains to
the Exira cemetery where they were tenderly
consigned to the grave, there to wait
until the resurrection morn. --Exira Paper:

Mrs. Miller was a sister of John Zaner of
Fishingcreek.
