Mrs. Secrest Thomas is at Rest.

After many weeks of intense suffer-
ing Mrs. Secrest Thomas breathed her
last on the morning of Wednesday,
March 10, 1897, aged 68 years, 3 months
and 12 days. Elder J. C. McQuary,
pastor of the Christian church, con-
ducted funeral services at the home,
this afternoon, and the body was laid
to rest in the Exira cemetery, followed
there by a long line of sorrowing rela-
tives and friends.

Elizabeth Ring was born November
26, 1828, in Belmont county, Ohio.
Was married to Secrest Thomas on
March 17, 1853. Moved to Indiana in
1864 where they resided until the fall
of 1875 when they came by team to
Audubon county, Iowa, and have lived
in Exira for the past nineteen years.
By this union there were born nine
children of whom six are living: Mrs.
Fannie Joslin, of Cra(e)ighton, Nebraska;
Mrs. John Botts, Mrs. Stella Gear-
heart, J. M. Thomas, S. E. Thomas
and Otto Thomas, all of Exira.

We, the children, thank the many
friends who assisted us on this our sad
bereavement.
