FARMER A SUICIDE

Well Known Audubon Man
Takes Poison and Then
Hangs Himself

Frank Buckner, a wealthy retir-
ed farmer residing in Audubon,
committed suicide Sunday by first
taking poison and then hanging
himself in the garage at his home.
He was missed by his wife at about
10:00 o'clock in the morning and a
search was immediately started
which resulted in the finding of the
body by his wife at about one-thir-
ty in the afternoon.

The deceased was a son of An-
drew and Matilda Buckner and
was born in Illinois May 31, 1858,
his death occurring on December
18, 1921.

At eight years of age he moved
with the family to Wapello Coun-
ty, Iowa, residing there until 1881
when he moved to Audubon Coun-
ty. He was married to Nancy A.
Manuel on August 27, 1879 to
which union was born six children
namely: Samuel, who died in in-
fancy; Lydia Higgins; Orval; Cyrus;
Florence Northup; and Minnie
Fancher. The parents, who resid-
ed on a farm for many years, mov-
ed into Audubon several years ago
where the mother died on August
27, 1919.

On June 1st, 1921, Mr. Buckner
was joined in wedlock to Mrs. Ro-
setta Giddings, of Manning, since
which time the couple have resided
in Audubon.

In 1915, he joined the M. E.
church in Audubon and has lived a
true, christian life.

The deceased leaves to mourn
his loss his wife, six children and
two brothers, Hanford and Elwood
Buckner of Gray.

The funeral services were held
yesterday, Wednesday, afternoon,
at two o'clock at the Methodist
church in Audubon and interment
was made in the Arlington Heights
cemetery.
