Aged Doctor, after Spend-
ing Sixty Years in Practice
of Profession, Succumbs

James Martin Rendleman was
born October 17, 1837, in La-
fayette, Georgia, and died Decem-
ber 25, 1920, at Exira, Iowa. In
1860 he graduated in medicine at
the Atlanta, Georgia, Medical Col-
lege, and the same year was united
in marriage to Flora A. Houston.
They lived in Atlanta until 1872
when they moved to Exira. In
1883 the family moved to the town
of Audubon where they lived until
January, 1890, then returned to
Exira and continued to live here
since.

Mrs. Rendleman died six years
ago, a son, J. B. Rendleman, died
in January, 1919, a daughter, Mrs.
E. D. Cotton, died last January,
also a son and daughter, twins, died
during infancy. One daughter
Mrs. C. H. Miller, of Des Moines,
and one son, J. H. Rendleman, of
Exira, are the surviving members
of the family.

During his long residence of
forty-eight years in the county Dr.
Rendleman made many friends.
He was highly esteemed by all who
who knew him and was very sus-
cessful in the practice of his pro-
fession.

The death of Dr. Rendleman
concludes a long and useful life,
sixty years of which was spent in
constant endeavor to relieve the
suffering of others. He was a
Christian and a kind and devoted
father and friend.

The family has the sympathy of
friends.

Note: Parents of James Martin Rendleman were John Phillip Rendleman and Elizabeth Ridenhouer. His wife was Flora Ann Houston.
