Former Resident Dies
from Effect of Injuries

--------

Relatives in this city received
word last week of the death of Ed
Calph which occurred Sunday, No-
vember 20th. In a letter from his
niece, Miss Carrie Sleeper, she
states that his death was caused
from injuries he received in a street
car accident three weeks previous
when his leg and several ribs were
broken and he suffered severe in-
ternal injuries. He was taken to
the Old Settlers' Home Hosptial
where he received the best of care
but his condition gradually became
worse and he passed peacefully
away.

Mr. Calph will be remembered
by many old residents here. He
married Miss Jane Hamlin, a sister
of the late Doug Hamlin. She
died many years ago in Denver.

The deceased had been making
his home with his sister in Los
Angeles, and at the time of his
death was eighty-seven years of age.

Note: Edward Stephen "Ed" Calph's wife was Martha Jane Hamlin, daughter of Nathaniel Hamlin and Margaret Terrell "Peggy" Poage.
