Audubon county lost another pio-

Covault passed away at his home
here Saturday following an illness of
several weeks. Mr. Covault was sev-

few months.

William Hamilton Covault was born

tember 29, 1847. He was the oldest
child of Isaac A. and Elizabeth (Lin-

Three brothers and three sisters are

California and two brothers and three
sisters in Ohio.

The deceased was married to Har-

years. In 1879 the family, then con-
sisting of two sons and the wife,
started from Ohio for Audubon coun-
ty in prarie schooners and arrived
here in September, locating on a farm
in Greeley township, one mile and a
half west of North Branch, and this
farm was owned by Mr. Covault at
the time of his death. It was here
that they raised a family of five
boys and three girls, all of whom are
living excepting Isaac, who passed
away in 1901 at the age of twenty-
three years.

On January 31, 1919, his wife pas-
sed away and he was left without a
home, except to live around among
the children.

On June 6, 1921, the deceased was
united in marriage to Mrs. Clara
Herrick and since that time has lived
in Exira, where he had innumerable
friends who mourn his passing.

He is survived by his wife, four
sons, three daughters, 25 grandchil-
dren and 19 great grandchhildren. The

Adair, of Exira; H. A. Covault, Guth-
rie Center; C. E. Covault and Mrs.

Funeral services were held at the
Exira Christian church at two o'clock
Monday afternoon, April 26, conduct-

excellent address from the subject of
"The Pioneer" which was very appro-
priate.
