EXIRA MAN DIES
OF HEART ATTACK

----------
Father of Local Druggist Lives
But Short Time Following
Attack Christmas Eve

----------

George T. Kearney, father of J. T.
Kearney, local business man, was
taken suddenly ill about seven o'clock
last Thursday evening while down
town with an attack of heart trouble.
He was taken home, where he seemed
to be recovering nicely and sat up in a
chair talking, looking and feeling fair-
ly well until five minutes before
his death. About a year ago the de-
ceased man was taken suddenly and
violently ill and was confined to hos-
pitals at Des Moines and Atlantic for
several weeks, and following this time
he has been making his home in Exira
with his son.

The remains were taken to his old
home at Oakland Saturday and fun-
eral services were held at that place
Sunday afternoon.

George T. Kearney was born on
January 2nd, 1857, at Galena, Illinois.
He came to Council Bluffs with his
parents about 1856 and later to a
farm in the vicinity of Oakland, where
he spent the greater part of his life.
A part of the past summer was spent
with his daughter at Loretta, Neb.,
and during the past four months he
has lived in this city.

He leaves to mourn his loss three
sons and one daughter, a brother and
sister, 14 grandchildren and two great
grand children. His wife (Missouri A. Farris - 1851-1918) passed to
the great beyond in Oakland about
seven years ago. The children are
W. F. Kearney of Oakland, C. E.
Kearney of Loretta, Neb., J. T. Kear-
ney of this place and Mrs. S. D. Cor-
derman of Loretta, Neb. The brother
and sister are A. R. Kearney of Oak-
land and Mrs. W. C. Jacobs who re-
sides in South Dakota.
