FUNERAL OF FORMER
RESIDENT HELD TODAY

----------
Old-Time Resident of Exira Died at
Home of Her Daughter in Cali-
fornia After Short Illness

----------

Funeral services were held here to-
day for the late Mrs. Daniel Knapp
Miller, who passed away Saturday at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice
Sylvester, in Oakland, California. The
Rev. Henry Wissler had charge of the
services. Burial was made in the
Exira cemetery.

The deceased lady was 82 years of
age. She was born in Canada and
came to Audubon county in 1874 and
resided in Exira until about twenty
years ago when she went to California
to make her home with her daughter.
She is survived by one son, George
Knapp, Clinton; two daughters, Mrs.
Alice Sylvester of Oakland, Calif., and
Mrs. Gertrude Donnelly of Fargo, N.
D.; one sister, Mrs. P. E. Thien of
St. Paul, Minn.; one brother, John H.
Traux of Murray, Iowa, all of whom
were here for the funeral.

During the many years of residence
in this community the deceased was
active in all social affairs. She was
one of those who had a prominent
part, in founding the Thursday club
and helping to establish the organiza-
tion on a sound basis. She was well
known to all of the older residents
and had numberless friends here who
mourn her passing.
