Rites Held Sunday for Taylor Kline
Well Known Exira Young Man Passes After Month's Illness

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon for Taylor Tracy Kline, well known Exira young man, with the Rev. S. E. Wright in charge. Burial was in the Exira cemetery.

Taylor died last Thursday afternoon following a month's illness. Taken ill while playing ball on July 20, he was removed to his home here and on August 5th was taken to St. Anthony's hospital at Carroll.

He was born in Exira on October 28, 1910. He grew to manhood here and was married to Cecile Maxine Clements (1918-1962) of Harlan on December 4, 1938. To this union one child, Barbara Mae, 10-months-old, was born. He was graduated from the Exira high school in 1929 and for the past several years had been employed at the G. F. factory here.

Surviving are the wife and daughter; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Kline; five brothers, Everett, Leonard, Dallas, Mark and Van, and three sisters, Leila (Mrs. Theodore Nelson), Genieve (Mrs. Dewey Kness), and Merle (Mrs. Lauren Wheeler). He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

Mrs. Thorle Robison of Des Moines was here Sunday to attend funeral services for Taylor Kline.

Out-of-town relatives of Mrs. Cecile Kline who attended funeral services for Taylor Kline Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Haxton, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Branson, Mrs. W. D. Clampitt, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Sulgrove, Mrs. Geo. Sulgrove, Ora Sulgrove, all of Dexter; Mr. and Mrs. C. O. Clements and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Price of Earlham, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bronson and Mrs. Ed Stringer of Guthrie Center and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Throckmorton of Storm Lake.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Kline and sons left Tuesday morning for their home at Warren, Ohio. They arrived Sunday morning to attend the funeral srevices for his brother, Taylor Kline. Mrs. Marvin Kline, who accompanied them, remained for a visit at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Wieland.

excerpt from letter from Lola (Wheeler) Toft to Ken Akers, Feb. 2004, regarding what preceded the death of Taylor Kline at the age of 30:
...My Uncle Taylor didn't get hit in the head with a baseball. Garner (Heath) said it was the trunk lid of the car that all of the baseball equipment was brought in. I don't know who's car it was. This happened prior to the game, then during his time at bat he went down to the ground. It was very sad....
