FORMER RESIDENT VERY LOW

The condition of Hiram Heath,
former Exira resident who is now
making his home with his daughter,
Mrs. Les Dorsey, near Brayton, is
very low. Mr. Heath has been ailing
for some time and last week doctors
amputated one foot. He is quite
along in years and but little hopes
are entertained for his recovery. His
grandson, Roy Powers, was in Exira
yesterday after Mrs. Wood Kline (1874-1960), who
will care for Mr. Heath.

OBITUARY

Hiram Heath, son of Milton and
Elizabeth Heath, was born at Fort
Wayne, Indiana, November 8, 1845.
The family moved west in a very early
day and settled near Oakfield about
eighty years ago, where the deceased
married Eveline Gransbury (1852-1925) on March
26, 1871. About forty years ago they
moved to Exira where they lived con-
tinuously until Mrs. Heath passed
away in January of this year follow-
ing a second stroke of paralysis. Since
then, Mr. Heath has stayed with his
daughter, Mrs. Ola Dorsey, of Anita.

Mr. Heath had been a great suffer-
er for many years, having been af-
flicted since April, 1915, with paraly-
sis from which he never fully recov-
ered. Gangrene set in in January of
this year and was the immediate cause
of his death on October 31, 1925.

He is survived by one brother and
four children. The children are Henry
Heath (1872-1949) of Exira; Mrs. J. B. Anderson
of Indiana Harbor, Ind.; Mrs. L. L.
Dorsey of Anita; Mrs. Earl Folly of
Atlantic. There are also twenty-two
grand children and eight great grand
children, besides many friends.

Funeral services were conducted at
the Christian church by Rev. Robert
N. Chord assisted by Rev. Dale Hum-
bert, Sunday afternoon at two o'clock,
November 1. Burial was in the Exira
cemetery.
