1918-2004
Noble Harlan Zimmerman, the son of Walter G and Anna Lippke Zimmerman, was born March 1, 1918, on his parents' farm near Merrill,Iowa, in Plymouth County and died May 3, 2004 at the Friendship Home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of
86 years, 2 months and 2 days.Noble was baptized and confirmed at Stanton Township Evangelical United Brethren Church. He attended rural school in Plymouth County No. 4, then graduated from Merrill High School, with the class of 1936. Noble then helped operate the family farm and also worked as a welder in Le Mars, Iowa.
On December 21, 1950 he was united in marriage to Dorothy marie Schrader at Ross Evangelical United Brethren Church in Ross, Iowa. One son, Wendell was born to this union.
Noble and Dorothy operated farms in Audubon County and Shelby County, until they purchased a farm west of Audubon in the spring of 1955, which was operated until they retired from farming, and moved into Audubon, on November 1, 1978. Noble and Dorothy maintained their home until they moved to the Friendship Home in Audubon in December of 1998. Dorothy died November 18, 2000.Noble was a member of Ross Evangelical United Brethren Church, where he had served on the church council. He later became a member of the First United Methodist Church in Audubon, where he participated in Bible Study, taught Sunday School, and was a member of the United Methodist Men. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and enjoyed gardening and fishing with his friends.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife were his parents, his brothers and sisters; Kenneth Zimmerman ; Roy and wife, Wilma Zimmerman; Lois Rees and Evelyn Zimmerman.
Survivors include his son and wife, Wendell and Lynn Zimmerman of Humeston, Iowa; his step-grand
children; Joshua Sheppard of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and Amber Sheppard of Omaha, Ne; his sisters: Carol Zimmerman; and Pearl and husband Loren Smith, all of Waterville, Minn; his brother-in law Harold Rees of Mountain Lake, Minn. and sister in law Shirley Zimmerman of North St. Paul, Minn; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
