Hymeneal.
Miss Zilpha May Gault, daughter
of the late H. F. Gault and Mrs.
Lissie Gault of this city and Mr.
Robert Filson Cockerill, of Lehigh,
Iowa, were united in marriage,
Wednesday February 22nd, at the
residence of the bride's mother in
Exira Heights at high noon, only
the relatives of the bride and groom
being present. Rev. J. L. Fisher, of
Lewis, performed the short and
impressive service in which the
marriage ring formed an important
factor. The bride was dressed in
white Persian lawn and carried a
fine boquet of white roses.

The groom was habited in the
conventional black.

After the ceremony the happy
couple received the sincere congratulations
of the relatives assembled,
when the many and valuable
presents had been looked over and
admired, the guests sat down to a
four course dinner which was one
of the most elaborate and palate
pleasing dinners of the many
which have preceeded it in the city.
After the dinner came the leave
taking when the happy couple,
with his mother, Mrs. Cockerill and
sisters, Miss Cockerill and Mrs. C.
H. Warrington, of Jefferson, bade
the friends good-bye and departing
under a shower of rice, seated themselves
in a double seated carriage
which by the way had been appropriately
decorated with bleeding
hearts and a liberal supply of old
shoes, as a testimonial of the good
feeling and well wishes tor the
future wellfare, happiness and
prosperity of their newly married
relatives, drove to Audubon and
boarded the north-western train for
Jefferson where they will pass a
few days,

They will be "at home" to their
friends at Lehigh, after March 1st.
Mrs. Cockerill was born and her
childhood days were passed at
Danbury, Iowa, but afterwards
came to Exira, where her father
was engaged in the mercantile
business, where for the most part
she has spent her time until her
marriage. She has been an able
efficient and accommodating sales
lady in the store of which her father
was the head, consequently is
well known for miles around the
city. She is a lady in the true
sense of the word, a christian and
member of the Congregational
church and a member of the O. E.
S. and such was the confidence in
her ability and discretion that she
was sent to Waterloo last fall as the
proxy of the presiding officer of
that order to attend the Grand
Chapter, an honor which but few
of her age can attain.
We bespeak for her a happy and
welcome greeting in her new home
and assure her new friends their
kind greeting will not be undeserved.

We first had the pleasure of becoming
acquainted with the groom
some two years since, when he
came here and took charge of the
Smith-- now the J. F. Berry drug
store and managed the same until
the present owner purchased the
business. After leaving this city
he went to Lehigh and entered into
the drug business with W. F. Jones,
and they now have a lucrative
trade under the firm name of W. F.
Jones & Co.

During his stay here Bob, as he
was familiarly called, made many
friends who rejoice in his good
fortune in securing a help mate
through the tortuous and often
rugged road which leads to old age
and finally death. May their paths
be one of love, pleasantness and
peace.

LINEN SHOWER.
Miss Zilpha Gault "showered" by
a Number of Her Girl Friends

Last Thursday evening twenty
six young ladies, of this city, con-
gregated at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. George Spencer,on north Park
street, for the express design of giv-
ing a linen shower for their young
friend, Miss Zilpha Gault, who was
married yesterday.

The shower was a success and a
surprise to the recipient in every
way. After the "shower" the ladies
amused themselves with social
games and other recreations, until
the midnight hour when a tempting
and delicate lunch was served,
after which they retired to their respective
homes, no doubt asking
themselves the question, "I wonder
when it will be my turn to be
the recipient of a linen shower?"

Note: Parents of Zilpha May Gault were Henry Franklin "Frank" Gault and Dora Smith.
Parents of Robert Filson Cockerill, Jr. were Henry Cockrill and Hattie Hauser.
