FRANK FULLER IS CALLED BY DEATH
Pioneer Barber of City Passed Away Early Today –
Active in Affairs of His ChurchToday the curtains are drawn, and crepe hangs at the side of the door of a small barber shop on Midway, and people all over the city who knew him, are mourning the passing of Frank U. Fuller [Franklin Udell Fuller], Christian and pioneer resident of Centerville, who died at 4 a.m. this morning.
Mr. Fuller’s life has been one of devotion to his family and to those about him. For more than 33 years he has been a member of the Free Methodist church and his influence thruout the years has been for good. In his barber shop today, if one was to enter they would find pictures of Christ and Sunday school cards that speak mutely of the character of the man who had charge of it. His relatives today stated that they had never heard him speak an oath or an unclean word and in his death Mr. Fuller was patient and unmindful of himself to the last.
He was born in Centerville 62 years ago and with the exception of 14 months spent in Oklahoma, this city has always been his home. He was a pioneer barber of the city. It was 42 years ago in March that he married Mrs. Fuller [Martha Jennie Delay] and to this union were born six children, all of whom were at his bedside at the time of death. They are, George [F.] Fuller, of Ottumwa; Charles [Jessie] Fuller, of Beloit, Wisconsin; Clyde [T.] Fuller of Moline, Illinois; Mrs. Elza Orman [Mary Cordelia Fuller] of Ottumwa; Mrs. A. J. McElroy [Zelma Edna Fuller] of this city, and Mrs. Paul E. Davis [Anna Viola Fuller] of Boulder, Colorado.
Mr. Fuller is survived by several brothers and sisters as follows: Saul A. [Solomon A.] Fuller of St. Petersburg, Florida; Rev. T. J. [Thomas J.] Fuller of Waterloo; E. B. [Edward B.] Fuller of Portland Oregon; Mrs. Will Brooks [Rhoda May Fuller], of Arkansas; Mrs. Ed Greenville [Jenny Fuller], Mrs. T. J. Gilstrap [Elnora R. Fuller] and Mrs. Geo. Barnthouse [Clara E. Fuller] of Centerville. A sister and a brother, Mrs. John Perry [Jessie Fuller], and Will [William J.] Fuller preceded him in death.
Mr. Fuller had been in poor health for some time and took to his bed last Monday evening following a light stroke.
The Funeral services will be held at the Free Methodist church at 2:30 p.m. Monday and the Rev. H. R. Eveland, assisted by Rev. C. Ward Millan, will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.Centerville Daily Iowegian October 13, 1923.
