Death of Thomas Philby

Old citizen and mine operator at Brazil died last evening

Thomas Philby, for many years a coal operator at Brazil, died last night at 8:00 o'clock after a long illness from complications which took a serious turn a week ago.

We understand that the funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock at the residence with internment at Mystic. Richard Campbell will conduct the service.

Mr. Philby was about 71 years of age and is survived by his wife, one son, Joseph, and three daughters, Mrs. Robert Lawton and Mrs. Turner, of Brazil; and Mrs. John Cole of Diamond and six brothers: *David of Tacoma, Wash; George and Captain of Brazil and John W., of Sioux City, the latter being at this death bedside, also by his sister, Mrs. Margaret Rear of Brazil.

*Note: Error in the information. His brother Samuel was in Tacoma, Washington, David died in 1893.
