Charles H. Philby of Brazil is dead

Long time resident of that community died Tuesday evening following long illness

Charles Henry Philby, for over fifty years a resident of Brazil, died at this home there Thursday evening at 6:30 o'clock, following an illness of long duration, which gradually weakened him until death came. He was 61 years of age June 22. He was widely known thruout (sic) the vicinity, and numerous friends and neighbors, in addition to the family and other relatives, mourn his passing. He was a member of the Mystic Masonic lodge, and was highly regarded by all.

Deceased was born in Mohannan county, Ohio, the son of Thomas and Sarah Philby. He came with his parents to Brazil as a child, and has since made his home there. In death he is survived by the wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Erickson of Brazil, and three grandchildren. One child precedes him in death. There are also the following brothers and sisters: Samuel of Brazil; Geroge, Plano; Joe, Elkhorn, Wis.; Mrs. R. L. Turner, of Centerville; Mrs. John Cowles, of Mystic, and Mrs. Ira Lawton, of Mystic.

Funeral services will be held from the home at Brazil Saturday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. A. Wilson, pastor of the Mystic Methodist church, and by the Mystic Masonic lodge. Burial will be in Mystic. The body will lie in state at the home from 9:00 a.m. until noon Saturday.
