Mrs. Swift, wife of A. Swift, our postmaster, died on the 11th of obstructed bowels. Doctors Murdy, Sellers and Smith of this place, and Dr. Sawyers, of Unionville, Ia., operated to relieve her, finding a growth on the large intestine peculiar to cancer, which formed the obstruction. This was removed, but she was too weak to sustain the shock of the operation and sank rapidly until death relived her. She was a most estimable lady and leaves a large circle of friends, a husband and family of small children to mourn her loss. The funeral took place on the 13th, at 10 o'clock A.M.
