Alan Jon Hanson

Alan Jon Hanson, 51, of Centerville, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at his home in Centerville. He was born the son of Billie L. and Geraldine "Geri" (Anderson) Hanson on Sept. 5, 1961 in Hollywood, Calif. He graduated from Centerville High School in 1979.

Alan served his country with the United States Air Force and later would spend over six years with the U. S. Navy. He worked several years at the Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, Wash. and later started his own business, Discordia Games also in Bremerton. After moving back to Centerville, he began working for Kum & Go Convenience Store in Centerville.

Alan attended the naval electronic training center in Florida which was followed with a lengthy nuclear technician training program in Utah. He graduated these programs with an equivalent Electronic Engineering Degree. He enjoyed gaming and developed a set of world-wide acquaintances. He loved being with his family on holidays and on special occasions and especially he loved hiking and camping in the high mountains. Alan's continuing faith in God sustained him during difficult times. He always had a hug for his parents (Bill & Geri) during a weekly get together for a special cup of coffee at Tangleberries.

He was preceded in death by: his grandparents, Charles and Naomi Hanson and David and Agnes (Miller) Anderson.

Alan is survived by: his parents, Bill and Geri Hanson of Centerville, Iowa; a brother, Randy J.L. Hanson of McKinney, Texas; along with aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012 at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the Rev. Dennis Beeson officiating. Burial will follow at the Dale Cemetery north of Centerville. Visitation will be held one hour before services at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to the Diabetes Association and mailed to or left at the funeral home. The Schmidt Family Funeral Home of Centerville has been entrusted with the care of the Hudson family and condolences can be sent at: schmidtfamilyfuneralhome.com
