Page 3Died on Thursday morning June 22, 1882, at the home of her parents in Centerville, Iowa, Clara Actius, youngest daughter of D. L. and M. J. Strickler, aged 11 years, 7 months and 24 days.
Clara was an unusually bright and lovely child, winning her way at once to the hearts of all with whom she came in contact, whether old or young, by her pleasant smile, her sweet and gentle disposition, and her modest, unassuming, lady-like deportment. To know her was to love her. The saying, "Death loves a shining mark," is seldom more forcibly exemplified than in her case.
The bereaved father, mother, brothers and sisters have the sincere sympathy of the community in their sore affliction.
Funeral services were held in the Baptist church on Friday afternoon, June 23, attended by a large and solemn congregation.
