EDWARD MILLER VICTIM OF CAR ACCIDENT CASE

Aged Man Believed to Have Contracted Pneumonia Due to Shock Aggravation
Edward Miller, 80, died at the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital at 9:00 a.m. this morning as an indirect result of an automobile accident last Wednesday.
Death was directly attributed to pneumonia, which was induced by shock after an automobile wreck near Unionville. The wreck occurred when the Mrs. Delila Fenton car backed down a hill into a ditch. Bad brakes were blamed for the accident. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton, Mr. Miller and Harold Fenton were in the car at the time.
Mr. Miller was struck near the left eye with such force that it was feared to his skull was fractured, but a careful examination showed that this was not the case.

Shocked

However, he was shocked to the extent that a severe cold from which he was suffering, soon turned into pneumonia. By last Friday his condition was regarded as serious. When death came he was surrounded by several members of his family.
At the time of the car accident Mr. Miller was suffering from a severe cold. Last winter pneumonia almost cleaned him and he fell easy prey when the disease attacked him again.

Taken to Hospital

Mr. Miller was rushed to the hospital immediately after the accident, 10 plans were completed to take him home after it was revealed his skull was not fractured. His cold grew gradually worse however, and it was deemed advisable that he remain under careful observation. Every medical recourse was not sufficient to stave off the pneumonia attack which grew worse hour by hour.
Mr. Miller was a lifelong resident of Appanoose County, being born and reared in Independence Township. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. George Miller.
He married early in life and to the union five children were born. They are: Mrs. D Lila Fenton of Unionville, Mrs. Georgia Pangborn, J. W. Miller of Illinois, Elmer and Eliza. His wife preceded him in death, having succumbed in March, 1934.

Mr. Miller farmed all his life. At the time the car accident occurred he was visiting at his daughter's home in Unionville,In Independence Township.

Leaves Sister and Brother

In death he leaves a sister, Mrs. Perry Carter of Albia, and a brother, Fred Miller of Albia. Thirteen grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Miller funeral home in Centerville, Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at the Denny Cemetery.
