Edward Fenton

Edward Fenton, 98, of rural Plano, died Wednesday, March 24, 1976, in St. Joseph Hospital, where he had been a patient one week.

Born on a farm in Independence township north of Plano, March 4, 1878, he was the son of John and Thursy Ely Fenton. On January 14, 1903, he was married in Centerville to Bessie Willett, who survives.

Four children also survive, Floy Hensley, Cariton; Alva and Wilbur Fenton, Plano; and Beulah Mikels, Centerville; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Emma Reynolds, Hattie McKinley and Dora Teater, two brothers, Ottie and Charles Fenton and one great-granddaughter. He was the last living member of his family.

Mr. Fenton had been a farmer all his life. He was a member of the Chariton River Baptist Church, where he attended as long as heath permitted.

The family requests a memorial be established to the Chariton River Baptist Church.

Services will be Saturday, 1:30 p.m. at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home, with Robert Young officiating. Following the service at the funeral home, there will be a brief service for the family at the family home before burial in Brushy Cemetery north of Plano.
