Francis Wayne Moffatt 63, of Centerville died Sunday, February 1, 2015, at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa

He was born June 27, 1951 in Albia, Iowa, to Roy and Dorothy (Housley) Moffatt. He graduated from the Moravia High School with the class of 1971. After high school he served his country in the United States Army.

He was united in marriage to Margaret Ciska and to this union 3 children were born, Michael, Sarah, and Ashley. Francis and Margaret later divorced.

Francis worked as a welder at C & C Machining in Centerville for many years. He enjoyed collecting eagles, John Wayne memorabilia and watching his westerns. He also enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, building model cars, and spending time with family and friends.

Francis is survived by his three children, Michael (Katascha) Moffatt of Albia, Sarah (Dan) Howie of Oskaloosa, and Ashley (Zachary) Robnett of Centerville; five grandchildren, Hannah, Mikey, Aaliyah, Dakota, and Ethan; a brother, Carl Moffatt; two sisters, Linda Moffatt and Sandy LaRue; and his ex-wife, Margaret Moffatt.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Dorothy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia, with military rites provided by the American Legion of Melrose Albia, and Lovilia. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia with Francis's family present from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

An open memorial has been established.
