Saturday, March 18, 1871A young man named James Green, who was in the employ of Mason Jackson, of Douglas township, about five miles north-east of this place, was found dead on the farm of the latter on last Tuesday evening. He left home in the morning for the woods to chop, and not returning to dinner Mr. Jackson went to the timber late in the afternoon and found him lying dead near a fallen tree. One of his temples was crushed in, and the supposition is that a broken limb of the tree he had been chopping had struck and killed him. The body was taken to the father's house in Walnut township.
