CHARLES C. LONG DEATH

Prominent Resident of Southeast of
Centerville Gone

Charles C. Long was born Dec. 28, 1861 in Appanoose County, and was married Dec. 5, 1883 to Marietta Miller, and has since made his home on what was known as the Albert Mitchell farm, southeast of Centerville. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Long, Edith, Ira, Carrol and Howard, all of whom are living.
Mr. Long had been ailing since last spring and about two months ago it was known he was afflicted with cancer of the liver. An operation undertaken at the Centerville hospital revealed the extent of the trouble and was then realized that no permanent recovery could be effected. Preparations were being made to retire from the farm and move to Centerville when his failing health caused a change in the plans and the family remained on the farm. After much suffering he passed away at his home Oct. 4, 1912. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and children, his mother, Mrs. W. A. Long, and brothers, Henry, Albert and Will of Seymour, one sister having preceded him. A host of friends are saddened at his death. He was a trustee and steward at Wesley chapel and had been a faithful member for 29 years. His loss there is irrepairable. The funeral was Sunday at 2 p. m. at Wesley, conducted by his pastor. Rev. H. W. Cannon, and was very largely attended, interment was at Centerville. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
