MRS. MARGARET BREAZEALE

The death of Mrs. Margaret Breazeale brings a feeling of personal sorrow to many friends in Centerville where nearly 40 years of her life have been spent.

She was born in the state of Tennessee in the year 1812 and came with her husband to Lee county, Iowa in 1844, moving to Appanoose county in 1848 and to Centerville in 1856.

She was the mother of five children, Sophronia, Marcellus, James, Mary and Rinna, only one of whom, Marcellus Breazeale survives her, the others having preceded their mother to the better world.

"Mother" Breazeale, as she was affectionately called by her friends, was possessed of very many estimable traits of character. In the early days in Iowa when living with her family on a farm in the eastern part of this county, she bore the inconveniences and deprivations of pioneer life without complaint, bravely and cheerfully, bearing the burdens of life in the new country, where she and her husband were making a home for themselves and their children. In 1856 Mrs. Breazeale came with her husband and family to Centerville, where she has lived ever since until the time of her death, and her useful, blameless life has won the friendship and esteem of all who knew her. Plain of speech, but tender hearted; strong in her convictions of right and duty, but tolerant, kindly and always ready to help others, she possessed all the qualities that make the good wife, the loving mother, the faithful friend, the true christian woman.
