Gunnar Olson
Gunnar Olson, 85, a longtime Centerville resident, died Tuesday in Centerville
Care Center. Born Nov. 20, 1900, in Centerville, he was the son of Leonard and Selma
Swanson Olson. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Centerville, and had been a member of the Mission Covenant Church. He was a
member of Jackson Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years, and as a younger man had played semi-pro baseball. He operated a filling station in Centerville for many years.
He was married to Leota June Evans in Centerville March 24, 1924, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Elliott of Lincoln, Neb.; a son, Don Olson of Deerfield, and five grandchildren, Mike Elliott of Lincoln and Stan, Vickie, Chrissie and Jennie Olson, all of Deerfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the Johnson-Lange Funeral Home, with the Rev. William Ballard officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:30 to 8:30 tonight. A memorial to the 18-80 Club has been established, and memorial gifts may be left at the funeral home.
