Helen Carson Sneed
Helen Carson Sneed, 90, former Appanoose resident, died in Los Angeles June 10, 1977, and was returned to the Moulton cemetery for burial with members of her family.
The daughter of Robert Beecher and Elizabeth Deeds Carson, she was born in Moulton January 29, 1887. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1906 and later went to Lindenwood College.
She married James Bert Sneed in 1908 when he became founding cashier of the Farmers and Merchants Savings Bank in Moravia. After his death in 1936 Mrs. Sneed served as house mother at Simpson College, and later at Iowa Wesleyan College. In Moravia where she lived for 25 years she was an Eastern Star, a Rebekah and a member of the Methodist Church. She was a 70 year member of the P.E.O.
Dr. J. Richard Sneed, a son, served for 15 years as minister of the First Methodist Church of Los Angeles. Elizabeth, a daughter, lives in Peoria
where she is a teacher in the Public Schools. George T. Carson of Centerville, former Iowa State Auditor, is her only living brother.
