Violet V. West

Violet V. West, age 89, of Centerville, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2007 at Centerville Nursing & Rehab Center in Centerville.

She was born the daughter of Edward Allen and Amanda Melvina (Forsythe) Wilfawn on June 8, 1917 near Moulton. She graduated from the Moulton Community Schools in 1937.

On April 30, 1938, Violet was united in marriage to Miller C. West in Centerville. She taught in a rural school and also later was a substitute teacher at Moulton. She was a member of the HEO club and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Miller West on Aug. 17, 2003; eight brothers; and two sisters.

Violet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Piatt and her husband, Larry of Centerville; sons, Ronald L. West and his wife, Marlene of Centerville and Edward D. West and his wife, Arlys of Albia; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; and three great- great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 2, at 10 a.m. at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery south of Unionville, Iowa.

Visitation was held Thursday at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville.
