Killed At Crossing
Three of the sons of the late J. B. Morris who was killed by a Rock Island train at Udell last Wednesday morning, were in the city yesterday and were colors at the Iowegiant office. From then we learned that their father was
crossing the railroad track with a load of hay going south. The fast freight was coming from the East at a point where it could not be seen from the crossing and struck the wagon killing Mr. Morris and one of the horses in the team. Deceased was in his 75th year and was a member at a company G, 2nd Iowa Infantry. The family had recently moved to that locality from Davis
County. He leaves a widow and eight children two of them unmarried. The interment toook place at Fairview Fairview Cemetery and was conducted by
