Richard W. Porter age 18; nativity Ohio, enlisted at Appanoose County Iowa July 28, 1863 as a Private; mustered Sep 6, 1863; taken prisoner at Neuman Georgia;(Andersonville) parolled; mustered out as a Private June 5, 1865 at Clinton, Clinton County Iowa. He recieved his pension in 1877 at Geneseo, Kansas; disibility as being varicose veins in both legs and thighs.
He is buried at Geneseo Cemetery at Geneseo, Kansas He was born Dec 12, 1845 and died July 5, 1929 at Geneseo, Kansas. Of interest also was that he was the numerater for the 1900 & 1910 census for that town. His wife Mary E. born Sep 13, 1848 died May 30, 1924; as well as their son Bert born Iowa October 4, 1878 died June 10, 1940 at Geneseo. I have contributed these 15 Porter burials at:
