While searching land deeds for my ancestor,his & Mr. Snead's Civil War Discharges were found.
Wayne Co., Iowa Land Deed Book 9 page 118- #6040.
To whom it may concern;
Know ye that ZACHARY SNEAD a private of Captain W.T. Ogles Company (26) 8th Regiment of Iowa Cavalry Volunteers who was enrolled on the seventh day of August one thousand eight hundred and sexty three to serve three years or during the war is hereby discharged from the Service of the United States this sixteenth day of June 1865 at Louisville Kentucky by reason of Gen. Order No.27 Dept AGO 1865 No Objections to his being re-inlisted is known to exist.
Said Zachary Sneed was born in Richmond in the state of Virginia is eighteen years of age, five feet six three fourths inches high, Fair complexion, blue eyes, auburn hair and by occupation when enrolled a farmer.
Given at Louisville Ky this sixteenth day of June 1865.

*Zachary Snead also found on 1870 census - Franklin Twp., Appanoose Co., Iowa.
I am not researching this man, I have no other information.
