MARRIED SIXTY YEARS
Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Schulz Celebrate
Anniversary Quietly At Their Home.

It was sixty years ago Monday, in the city of St. Louis, that Rudolph Schulz and Miss Anna Sontag were united in marriage. Monday at their
home on West 7th St., friends of this fine old couple visited them, and extended congratulations and good wishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Schulz came to Moulton in June 1869 and bought the lots on which their home now stands. That was in the days when Moulton had
the only railroad within a large radius and goods were hauled to Centerville and other nearby towns in wagons. Mr. and Mrs. Schulz have resided in the same place since moving to Moulton, and their house was built by Mr. Schulz. Even the furniture was turned out by his skillful hands. Many things of interest can be said of Mr. Schulz. He organized the first band in Moulton, which included its personnel G. T. Pulliam, S. R. Mace, Bob Jennings, Bob Morrison and others. He still has in his possession the cornet he used when he conducted the band, and it is a prized treasure. He was a carpenter of exceptional ability and erected many of the old homes in Moulton. He was chief architect when the old Christian church was built, and it was a true test of his ability. He is also a gun maker of uncanny dexterity and makes these fire
arms from stock to barrel. One of Mr. Schulz' guns is displayed at the Historical Building in Des Moines. The Lincoln-Douglas debate saw Mr. Schulz playing in the band that furnished the music on that memorable occasion. He has been Commander of Clark Post, G. A. R. many times, and still holds this distinguished office. He served during the Civil War with Co. I, 24th Illinois.
And Mrs. Schulz? This fine old lady gets around with a spryness that amazing. With a happy smile she entertained the guests who called and in other ways dispensed hospitality.
Mrs. Schulz is 79, and Comrade Schulz has reached the fine old age of 87.
All day Monday, the Schulz home was the scene of happy smiles and handclasps, and it is the sincere wish of the entire community that
this venerable old couple have many more years of happiness.

Yours, truly,
Rudolph and Anna Schulz

SCHULZ CONGRATULATED

Great Nephew Of Founder Of Moulton
Writes Mr. and Mrs.
Rudolph Schulz

The following letter was received by Comrade Rudolph Schulz from a former Moulton resident, and another of the old residents of Moulton,
who now resides at Leland, ILL.

Dear Mr. Schulz—
Emil VonOhlen brought the Moulton paper to me in which was the account of you and Mrs. Schulz' 60th wedding anniversary. I wish to extend my hearty congratulations to you and your wife
and sincerely hope that you may live to celebrate many more anniversaries and to continue to live in good health and happiness.
These good wishes, Herr Schulz, you remember are given you by a great nephew of Benjamin Moulton, who gave you a railroad. My brother, F. M. Moulton, of Iowa City, Iowa, has the records and account of that bit of historical news.
Sincerely,
O. Arthur Moulton, Leland, ILL.
