Knot Splicer.
Col. West, the veteran soldier and Elder, is the champion knot splicer or matrimonial cementer, of Appanoose county. Last Sunday he performed his 271st marriage rite. In 1877, the Colonel married his first couple—Findley Riggle and Miss Brinigar. Of the vast number united by Col. West in matrimony all have turned out well, except three, as far as known.
