J. N. RIGGS, proprietor of Udell Mills, residence Unionville; born in East Tennessee, Aug. 1, 1829; when but 15 years of age, with his mother and two sisters, he came to this county; at the age of 28, he purchased the mill here; in 1867, he entered the mercantile business, which he continued untl 1876; he now owns four mills, three saw and one grist mill, 250 acres of land, eight lots in Unionville, with buildings, one residence, etc., all valued at $12,000. Married Miss Malinda Boyles in 1859; she was born in Virgnia in 1839; daughter of Rev. T. T. Boyles, Pastor of M.E. Church, once on this circuit. Republican; she is a member of the M.E. Church. He is a member of the A.F.&A.M., No. 119, Unionville. His mother, who accompanied him to this state, died in 1860.
